Camera Price Buster - About Us
Camera Price Buster is a specialist price comparison and information resource for UK photographers. Camera Price Buster's goal is to save you time and money when looking to purchase UK stock photography equipment, by listing as many shops as possible who sell UK stock equipment. It is not possible to list every shop, so you should use this site as a guide, and bear in mind that there may be other shops not listed to consider - but you will find that most shops not listed are selling grey imports.
How to use this site: Camera Price Buster is designed around the assumption that you know what you want to buy. The navigation on the left hand side has a list of camera manufacturers - click on the name to see a list of product categories for that manufacturer, and then drill down to a relevant product list to find what you are after. Once you select the product you want, you will see a list of prices from various shops, and can click on them to visit the shops themselves. Please remember that the product listings are set up manually, so there will be always be the occassional mistake - please double check that the product you have clicked through at a shop to is exactly the one you want - and remember that prices change all the time, so sometimes the price on my site will no longer match the shop (but it should catch up later in the day during the next update).
History: Back in 2006 I was buying a lens, and was wasting hours searching around different shops to find who sold it for how much, scribbling it all down on a notepad. Existing price comparison sites were not precise enough (and on the whole this is still true), offering a small selection of shops and poorly matched products. Given my skill set (both a professional photographer and professional software developer) I realised I could do much better, so I set up the site. Initially I only listed a small number of products by Canon (I had a Canon DSLR and lenses), but after a while I started getting requests to list other manufacturers, and the site has grown and grown to what it is today.
How to help: If you find this site helpful, then please help me by referring it to other photographers and adding product reviews to the site. To add a review you need to register - it is quick and I will not do anything nasty with your email address. I will be adding new features for registered users so it will be worthwhile registering on the site. If you spot mistakes then please let me know (contact us) and I will try to correct them as soon as possible.
I spend as much of my time as possible keeping the site up to date, but please bear in mind that I have to fit it in around other things, so sometimes my response time to emails etc may be a little slow. The site is quite expensive to run, and is financed by a combination of advertising fees and commission fees from certain links. There is no requirement for a shop to contribute financially to the site in order to be listed - I genuinely try to list as many as I can regardless - but obviously the shops that advertise etc get priority when updating listings. Camera Price Buster is a participant in the Amazon EU Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.uk.
Data Services: There are many companies that find the data on my site useful for their business - shops, manufacturers etc. Whilst you are welcome to browse my site, you are not welcome to 'scrape' my site for data. If you have a business need for the data on my site, then please get in touch and for a reasonable fee I can provide suitable access to data reports.
How to be added to the site: If you run a shop selling UK stock, and would like to be listed, then please contact me with details of your shop.
